I am looking at the new Garmin 405, or Polar RS800xx.
I want to use the same watch for bike (speed, CAD, as well as run (speed, CAD).
Any experience for both of these sports with one watch?
I'm sure the polar is the better overall solution…more complete functions, smaller, compatible HRM with most machines at most gyms. however, the Garmin is still a very good product and approx. $100 cheaper. If you're on a budget, I think the Garmin will certainly do the job. If you have money to burn, by all means get the Polar.
Which watch should I use for triathlon use?

I want to buy a GPS unit and need a little help in choosing. my budget is under $500.
I'm only considering TomTom, Garmin, and Navigon. so far here's what I know:
TomTom has most (and best) voice options including some celebrities. Also has fastest refresh rate.
Garmin has better screen coloring and features (which ones???) Can I also get extra voices for this?
Navigon updates cost $70!! Does Garmin and TomTom also charge for map updates? Routing is apparently best with the Navigon as of recent Garmin updates that actually made things worse…
Can you add custom points of interest on each unit? Like for Red Light Cams?
What gives one unit an edge over the other?
What should I do?
Garmin charges for map updates and they are overly expensive in my opinion. Don't know how much the other brands charge.
Garmin does charge for maps updates but that is what you will definitely need. Trust me, you will be happy using a Garmin system. I bought mine online from http://www.buygpscarsystem.com . recommend them cos they have lot of varieties plus the rates are also lower as compared to shops outside.
